My Old Piano
December ’22

When my friend Brian asked me to bring back to life this beautiful 1950  Kimbal  piano molded front panel belonging to his mum,  he just said one thing: “I want it to be regal”.
The piano was enjoyed by family and friends for decades until it fell into disrepair. Then in 1994 it was dismantled and discarded except for the front panel. Since then it has patiently waited for a restoration. That time has come and this piece will be enjoyed by friends and family again…
The frame is in Annie Sloan Athenian Black with a zest of General Finishes Pitch Black Glaze and Satin High Performance Top Coat. The body has been painted in Annie Sloan Burgundy with metallic old gold for the molds and clear and black wax for depth and protection. Some parts of the molds were missing and were restored as well as some of the hinges in the back, courtesy of Jacek Gorczynski, my mentor and partner in crime when it comes to DIY.
A regal Merry Christmas to Brian’s mum.
